Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind and Visually Impaired (GDABVI) and Michigan-based Maria Madeline Project, Inc., are re-working an already successful intergenerational computer training program to benefit senior citizens and children with severe vision loss. ExperienceSeniorPower (ESP) teams children and senior citizens for intergenerational computer learning and helps build adoptive grandparent relationships, while teaching basic and intermediate computer lessons necessary for success in today’s technology driven economy. ESP, the product of Maria Madeline Project, Inc., is in its 11th year. ESP was funded by Congress in 2005 for use in six states. Now in 2010 for the first time, ESP will be available for the blind and visually impaired.ACT (Accessible Computer Training) is a computer training class sponsored by GDABVI to teach those with severe vision loss basic computer skills using accessible software. GDABVI and ExperienceSeniorPower share a vision of helping senior citizens use computers for both leisure and employment to maintain independence and a quality of life mandated by computer access in today’s society. The initiative will be introduced this spring at the Michigan Association of Education and Rehabilitation (MAER) conference on April 28-29, 2010 and demonstrated again at the Visions 2010 Conference in Ann Arbor in May. "Friedreichs Ataxia" and other neuromuscular diseases Discussed in DVD (Health)
My name is Kerry Westfall. I have spent YEARS developing health strategies for myself as well as others. Last year I finished a DVD which is a compilation of everything i've learned directly from three doctors, my personal trainer and myself. The interesting part is that I use a wheelchair and have a rare neuromuscular disease called "Friedreichs Ataxia". My dream is to share this with the world, as this DVD is very inspirational, motivational and best of all, extremely informative. The main point of this DVD is to benefit medical research which aims to cure "Friedreichs Ataxia" as well as other neuromuscular diseases. Thus, I started the 501(C)(3) charity "Westfall Foundation" of which all income from DVD sales is used for research grants. My goal is to raise 1 billion dollars for medical research, I have recently partnered with amazon.com to help realize my goal. The DVD site is http://www.committoyourhealth.org
